The homeowners of this Auburn, NH in-law apartment discovered Build Savvy, LLC through a local Facebook page search, where we were honored to be highly recommended by multiple sources. The homeowners had already presented the project to the town of Auburn for ADU approval, but required an experienced residential design-build remodeler to help with the development of an architectural plan to obtain a building permit.
These clients had a vision of expanding their living space to support the goal of having their parents/in-laws close by, while maintaining separate, individual spaces for everyone. In this project, the homeowner’s primary focus was to create a unique, yet cohesive, exterior look and design, whereas their parents/in-laws provided the design input for the interior space. The Build Savvy team then transformed these ideas into reality.
The existing 2-car garage under was converted into additional storage space for the homeowners, and a new 3-car garage was constructed, featuring the in-law apartment above it. A small deck was also constructed at the back of the home, both as a town requirement for direct egress, and a pleasant area to enjoy the beautiful backyard. During the construction phase, the homeowners took the opportunity to widen their driveway and increase their curb appeal by adding fieldstone walls and improved hardscaping to and around their front entry. This project was completed in just under 7 months, from building permits to final inspection.
